Application Process |
- Show proof of passing board-approved exams (http://www.lsbpne.com/Admission%20Scores.pdf) or register and pay to take the COMPASS exam (see below if you have ACT scores or how to study for the test) for $10 either in person in the Technology Center, room 131 or online at www.ce.lsus.edu. Dates and spaces are limited and appointments are accepted. Picture ID required.
- Complete and pay $10 to process the LSUS PN application. Click here to download the application. The application is also available in LSUS Continuing Education Office located in the , LSUS Technology Center, room 131.
- Type a one page essay explaining why you are interested in the program AND the profession. Be sure to include your name on the essay. Essays may be mailed, faxed or delivered to our office.
- Bring or mail the following documents to our office immediately

- Official high school transcripts/GED
- Official transcripts from all post secondary institutions attended
- Official ACT score -minimum composite of 20 and less than 3 years old

Once our office receives these documents, you will be asked to come in person and sign a criminal status disclaimer as required by LSBPNE which states you “not be currently serving under any court imposed order of supervised probation, work-release, school release or parole in conjunction with any felony conviction(s), plea agreement or any agreement pursuant to the Louisiana Code of Criminal Procedure, Article 893.” |
Each item listed above will be reviewed and an invitation to appear before the Admissions Council will be sent to qualified prospects. ALL information is due November 30, 2009.

Registration for Compass Testing is available below. Registration is online with a major credit card or call 798-4177. Payments must be received in advance. ABSOLUTELY NO PAYMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED AT THE DOOR.
Financial Aid
Please go to www.fafsa.ed.gov and complete the application for federal aid. The school code you will use is 002013.
Upon Acceptance into the Program
You will be required to submit the following documents before classes begin:
- Doctor’s report about your physical health (within the past 12 months)
- Proof of immunization (measles, mumps, rubella, tetanus/diphtheria, hepatitis series)
- Register and pay to participate in PN Bootcamp. (date/time TBA)
- Finger-print record (two copies) – applicant’s expense (can be obtained from local Sheriff’s Office)
- Signed form granting permission for background checks to be sent directly to the Louisiana State Board of Practical Nurse Examiners
- Money order for $26 payable to the FBI for the background checks to be conducted
- Money order for $50 payable to the LSBPNE to evaluate your application to the program
Registration and Payment
- Complete pre-registration with faculty advisors
- Pay tuition and fees by 4:30 PM, January 22, 2010, Administration Building room 129 (cash or check only) or online (credit cards and financial aid); books are available in the LSUS Bookstore
- Obtain a student ID card from Student Activities, University Center room 232
